Rattlesnake Club Detroit Industrial Romantic Wedding

Updated: Mar 5, 2020

The Rattlesnake Club in Downtown Detroit was the perfect setting for Angelina + Justin's industrial and romantic wedding. We've been to the Rattlesnake Club before but it was a long long time ago. And this was the first time we filmed the ceremony outside overlooking the Detroit River!

Angelina and I go way back. Well actually Mr. Rick (Angelina's dad) and I go way back. I have done a lot of video work for his company RSC Event Productions...have you heard of Bridal Celebrations?? Yeah he produces the bridal shows at Cobo Center and Ford Field.

I was capturing broll at one of his shows at Cobo Center and I needed a break. Well guess who I sat next to!?! Angelina!! It was a great way to spend my break. And it's kinda cool that Angelina has been around a lot wedding vendors and has seen it all when it comes to decor and design. So it's only natural that her wedding had the best of everything- the band, decor, flowers. Ok I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll let Angelina tell you about her wedding.

Tell us about the wedding Our wedding was at The Rattlesnake Club. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception there and it was everything we envisioned and more. It was not only super convenient to have everything at the same venue but also really cool and unique. We quickly realized that the Rattlesnake was the perfect venue for us when we saw the ceremony space overlooking the Detroit River, the clocktower patio for cocktail hour, and the beautiful atrium reception space with a glass window ceiling.

How did you two meet? We met at Central Michigan University at an apartment party. As soon as I walked in the door and made eye contact with Justin, I thought 'oh my gosh, he's really cute'! We went to a bar in downtown Mount Pleasant and were inseparable for the rest of the night. I beat him in foosball multiple times, even though he'll deny that forever and we had the best night.

How did he/she propose? Justin never plans anything and always waits until the last minute to do everything, so I knew something was up when he wanted to plan me a birthday party. We had been dating for 5 years at the time and I knew it was coming sometime soon. My friend from out of town was staying with us for the weekend and we went wine tasting the day of. On the way there, I was telling her "I think he's going to propose tonight", but she kept it cool. I will admit, Justin was throwing me off by how calm he was acting. Later that evening, we were on our way to dinner when they suggested we walk around downtown Grand Rapids and take pictures. I was not thrilled by this idea since I was wearing new heels that were super uncomfortable, but I went along with it because I knew what was about to happen. We were walking around the outside of the Grand Rapids Public Museum which has the most beautiful views overlooking the river and the Blue Water Bridge and Justin got down on one knee and popped the question! Soon after he asked if I would marry him we saw a bunch of people running towards us... Apparently, there was a zombie 5k happening downtown that night and hundreds of people dressed like zombies with fake blood on them were running past us. It was hilarious and very memorable.

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning? Exactly like my Pinterest board-HA! I knew I wanted something industrial with lots of floral and soft touches.

What was your color palette and your style vision? Industrial (brick, metals), Blush, Navy, & Green, Lots of Floral-Romantic

What was your favorite moment? My favorite moment was the ceremony. It didn't feel real until that moment. I also loved seeing my dad for the first time. He got really emotional, which is not normal so it was a very special moment!

Describe your wedding day It was absolutely perfect and indescribable. Being surrounded by your favorite people while you marry your best friend is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. It was truly magical and I wish I could relive that day over and over again.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be? Don't let the little things stress you out, it's completely out of your control! Try to enjoy the day and be present because it goes by faster than you think!
